Is it? It used to be that a copyright only lasted for the life of the owner
(and that is the limit to which I recognize copyrights). Now they last for
the life of the author +75-95 years so corporations can make even MORE money.
That is completely unjust. When did the corporate rights mean more then the
rights of the author? I also have problems with estates claiming ownership
over works of deceased authors. Sorry, but Tolkien, Chaucer, and Asimov's
works are all public domain now, as are the works of every deceased author,
lyricist, artist and musician. Also, the DMCA is completely reprehensible as
it does not recognize in any form "Fair Use". Instead of telling me or
others to get some perspective, perhaps you should do the same for the MPAA,
RIAA and especially, although slightly unrelated here, SCO.

Personally I only download music now from music artists who have come out in
favor of their works being shared via P2P (and I rarely go on any P2P
networks anymore anyways as they all suck in one manner or another) and
haven't downloaded a movie since Episode I came out.

Perhaps, but until they stop jipping the artists they claim to represent and
stop gouging the customers they claim to serve, I say P2P should live on and
even grow if necessary.
