Subject: new study on Linux management being released tomorrow ...

Jeffery,

Just wanted to point you towards a new (free) study that your Linux user
group might find interesting.

Tomorrow a.m., research firm Enterprise Management Associates will release
an independent "Get the Truth on Linux Management" report (co-sponsored by
OSDL and Levanta) -- which analyzes feedback from more than 200
organizations running Linux, and surveys the time / money required to manage
Linux systems.

The report is now availalable for free download at:
http://www.levanta.com/linuxstudy/

As you know -- for years, Microsoft has poured millions of marketing dollars
into sponsored studies that assert that Linux is "tough to manage" and "high
touch." Microsoft's "Get the Facts" campaign
(http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserversystem/facts/default.mspx) says that
these management costs of Linux create a higher total cost of ownership that
makes the OS less attractive than Windows.

But the findings in "Get the Truth on Linux Management" show that not only
is Linux no more difficult to manage than Windows -- in many cases, users
running mixed (Linux and Windows) environments are finding Linux to be more
manageable than Windows.

Apologies for the unsolicited email; I won't bother you again.

Thanks,
Ray George
