[clue-talk] Macs are cheaper than Windows, but is Linux still cheaper still?

Most of his arguments seem to me to apply to Linux except for this line:

"Imagine an engineering company that builds and delivers properly
integrated hardware, properly configured security default conditions -
almost plug and play."

This weekend's LinuxFUN was a perfect example of how Linux isn't quite
as good as Mac in this regard - and I say this with all praise and
respect to the fine gentlement who hosted the event - it was very
useful for me and I really appreciate their work so I'm not saying
this to demean them.

After 10 minutes of fiddling with the projector and display settings
on a Fedora desktop David said "You don't have this thing dual booting
windows - you're living dangerously, huh?". Which is true. About
half the machines in the room were solely Windows or dual boot windows
and those running linux were "yeah, but external monitor support
doesn't work" or "yeah, but wireless networking doesn't work."

Linx can do everything in the article that Mac can - but it doesn't
have a "we engineered the hardware to work 100% of the time with this
OS" company behind it. I know there are some like Monarch, but when
you look at Monarch and you look at Apple the impression of polish is
miles apart.
