They both work fine.  There are a few versions WRT54GS, take a look at
the WRT54G wikipedia entry.  The WRT54GSv2.1 has 8MB flash and 32MB
RAM which is a lot for OpenWRT.  Things start to feel cramped for space
in the WRT54GL which has 4MB flash and 16MB RAM, but it still works OK
as long as your requirements do not exceed those constraints. :)
