So, to wrap up this unintentionally long-winded post, if the Moonies
were trying with some success to control the mediascape in 1989, how
much more influence do they have now? And how large is their role in
disseminating pro-war "information?"

That last is not a rhetorical question. I can barely guess at the
answer, but if they own UPI, it's got to be substantial. And though
there's nothing illegal about a religious group owning media companies,
I think this is something the public ought to know about.
