Which brings up an interesting question. Should a consumer have to purchase another copy not just to put it onto a different device but to have it in a new format? e.g., if you own a tape or LP, should you have to pay again for a CD or mp3? Should you have to pay again to go from standard definition to high definition? How about when UHD comes out?

On the other hand, I *will* break DRM if I can't get something I purchased onto a particular DEVICE I want it on. I paid for the media, and the hardware so if I want to watch it on "hardware X", I figure out how. Handbrake usually covers that need nicely on the Mac.
And honestly, I'm a "new media" junkie. Podcasts, Video Podcasts, etc... far more interesting than listening to the same old stuff I bought years ago. MIT's OpenCourseware audio type stuff, lectures from Ted... there's all sorts of great things to listen to/watch out there. If my wife weren't quite the TV junkie she is, I think I'd just hook up a Mac Mini to the HDTV. I may still do that.
