It seems the Internet is really lacking a certain something without it.
Sure, there's Twitter, Facebook, etc., but those are corporations.
And sure, Usenet exists, but it seems most people don't use it anymore -
probably because of spam. Nevermind that major ISPs dropped it as part of
the included service (without a drop in price, BTW). Also, I imagine some of
the noobs have gotten used to graphics and avatars and such.
To me, it seems that something is missing in the original flavor of the
Internet w/o a distributed - and unowned by any one entity - medium like
Usenet.
Thousands of corporate owned silos is hardly a replacement.
