Hello,

I have a Toshiba laptop with a Linksys 10/100 + 56K card. When the
system loads, the screen messages tell me that it is configuring eth0,
but when I run ifconfig, the only thing that shows up is the localhost.

I can manually load the card, and then it functions on my network, with
the line

    ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.32 broadcast 192.168.1.255 netmask
255.255.255.0

(This is not the real address, BTW).

I have run netconfig and the data is correctly in the /etc/rc.inet1
file.

What can I do to get the card to load upon system startup? (I currently
have the line in the rc.local file, but this doesn't seem to be the way
things really should work, and I would like to have them done
correctly).

Additionally, according to Linksys, version 3.0.9 of the Linux PCMCIA
services or higher is required to run this card. I am sure that this is
on Slackware 7.1, but how can I find out the version currently on it?

Thanx.
