I assume you were able to load the ide-tape module without error?
The command above is used to validate a TAR archive _after_ you write
it to the tape.
Did you sucessfully load some files onto the tape using the tar cvfP
/dev/ht0 { files to back up } command? For example, suppose I want to
back up my home directory, I would use this command:
$ tar cvfP /dev/ht0 /home/jccann/
It is possible that you have a bad tape. Is the IDE cable plugged in
correctly? Do you have a bad IDE cable?
