Aha! I knew it would turn out to be something simple! Local mail delivery via Exim is working now, mostly. Thanks for the help.

I don't seem to have a ~/.sylpheed.log file, but the Log Window tool worked fine.
My problem was that Exim was rejecting addresses with no domain. It has no problem delivering local mail addressed to <username>@localhost, or <username>@<localhostname>, but it chokes on just plain <username>.
I *thought* I had Exim set up to assume that any "To:" address without a domain should be sent to the local domain, but I guess I didn't. Is there a way to do this? And while I'm at it, is there any way to stop Exim from dialing out to the internet via Diald when it's just delivering local mail?
