Firewalls generally are not enabled when you install a distribution (unless 
you run Bastille Linux, or KRUD, or some other security-conscious Linux 
distribution.

This means you have to configure the firewall after you install the common 
distributions (Red Hat, Mandrake, SuSE, Slackware, Debian, etc.).
