So my son says "Dad, what I'd really like for my birthday is
for you to install Linux on my computer."  I know that he gets
DSL with US West.  Does Linux work with US West DSL?  I have
visions of a proprietary setup there, supported by Windows, 
with a DSL modem card in the computer.  Any warnings, hints, or
helpful advice before I go and try and grant his birthday wish?
