Interesting.

A commercial office application for Linux that I have absolutely never
heard of! I thought that Linux didn't have enough critical desktop
mass for this type of non-sense... (kidding)

http://www.hancom.com/en/product_service/office.html

Apparently, Hancom is based in Seoul, Korea. Their site does not serve
up too well in Konqueror - use Mozilla or Netscape.

I did download the trial version of the spreadsheet. It's a typical
KDE application -- looks great, responsive, enough functionality for
mortal users. I tried importing an MS Office sheet (exported from Star
Office) and everything looks good.

Hancon writes on their website that they have a deal with theKompany to
integrate additional apps. For example, Hancom Quicksilver PIM is
Aethera.

Quanta fans will notice that the Hancom WebBuilder is Quanta. I have
used Quanta in its 'open source' (now unmaintaned) state for the past
year-- it is an excellent HTML / PHP editor. Unfortunately, theKompany
wooed the Russian developers to turn Quanta away from open source and
into a commercial application. I am glad to see that it will continue
to live on. Of course, I would prefer that they stick with the GPL,
but I cannot begrudge them for wanting to pay their bills!

Good stuff! Definitely worth a look. If you are into commercial
office suites, the price ($49) is hard to beat.

Later.
Jeff
