Mike, you sorta lost me with the politics part. But no matter.

What are the tactics that will work to promote Linux?

 * Visibility: Get a running Linux box on the shelf
   at any major retailer
 * Ubiquity: Convince an enormous number of people that
   .DOC should not be the standard inter-op format
 * WWW: Inform sites that their "IE Only" site works
   just fine with Gecko (opera?), and convince them
   to put up "download Mozilla" links.
 * Get Linux into the K-12 system.
