It's the ide-cd module that you have to unload.  Read the howto, there 
is an option to it to keep the ide drivers from grabbing your CD drives.
You can have a modular driver for your root drive using an initial 
ramdisk (that's another long discussion).

So no problem since you aren't trying to do DVD to CD copies, right?
