[CLUE-Tech] Printer Help??

I'm trying to configure a parallel port printer on my RH7.1 
box.  I do have the lp module compiled and loaded in my kernel.

I send jobs vi lp -d and lpr, and I know the go into the spool
(checked that via lpstat).  But, they don't print and they do get 
cleaned out of the spool.  My log file in the /var/spool/lpd/printername 
directory is empty.

I did put the printer in my printcap, but I don't know if I did 
it properly.  I'm trying to find a "Printer HowTo", but all that 
I've found so far lead you down the "printtool" path, which won't 
work for me since I don't had X on this box.

Can anyone recommend a good "Console-Based Printer HowTo"?
