Unfortunately I have no idea why this is happening. But since I'm
doing the upcoming KISS session on fonts, it might be interesting to
work this in. I'll see if I can find something out, though I doubt
I'll have time for any serious research. Meanwhile, why don't you keep
trying, and if either of us finds anything out, we'll talk about it.
