I dunno how many on the list are interested in this kind of thing, but it
looks like there is FINALLY a workable proposal out for managing kernel
patches for Linus.

Hi:

I'm attempting to install Linux (mandrake 8.1) on an older system I have =
in order to get used to it before I put it on my main computers. I've =
made a boot disk and gotten to the following screen before it stops:

    "loading cdrom.rdz...
     loading vmlinuz.....
     using vga16 mode
     uncompressing linux...

     invalid compressed format (err=3D2)

    -- system halted"

Can someone offer some help on what's going on here? This system is an =
older AT running an AMD K-6 233 processor, 2.1 gig hard drive that is =
empty, and a 6 speed CD rom drive (don't laugh, I said it was old). I =
have 64 megs of sdram memory and a 4 meg video card.

Thanks
