Yeah.  It was pretty brain-dead easy.  ...pretty much just followed
this: http://www.redhat.com/support/wpapers/redhat/ext3/#easy

I don't remember if someone here supplied that link.

The experiment worked, too.  XOSL boots Linux from an ext3 partition,
but it's a convoluted path to get to that point.

My disks look like this, FYI:

hda1  16MB  XOSL Partition
hda2  1GB   FAT32

hdb1  50MB  /boot  ext3
hdb2  256MB swap
hdb3  1.4GB /      ext3
hdb5  234MB /var   ext3
