If you can get you DSL working for (horrors) Windoze, you can check the settings and use them for Linux, including DSS servers, gateway etc... At a DOS prompt, run ipconfig /all

Is the router supplying dhcp client IPs for your local network?  If yes, have
you set up the linux box to query the dhcp server (in this case running on
your router)?  This will configure the network card on the linux box
automatically and then things should work.

If you don't know the answer to this question, try this command and post the
output back to the list:

$ /sbin/ifconfig

Also, be sure to do a '$ man ifconfig' so you can learn a bit about this
utility,
