[CLUE-Tech] jed - the editor wars

Decided to give jed a whirl.  Some questions

1. Always gets a gpm error mumbling about consolename when starting. 
Seems to be harmless, but any clues about this?

2. Anyone know where (other than source code) the color combinations
are defined?  Default is something called "blue2" which is defintely
crap (IMHO).  I guessed at "white" and this is better, but the top row
(File, etc.) is mapped to a basically unreadable (dark brown?)
combination.  Any clues about this?
