[CLUE-Tech] ping returns "Destination Host Unreachable"

I am trying to install a 3com 3c509b card in one of my computers (P120,
RH 7.3, no X-Windows installed). I was finally able to get it installed
and the OS recognizes it (kudzu didn't for some reason), but I can't
ping the rest of my internal network.
As near as I can tell, there is not firewall on this machine, so that
shouldn't be the issue. Doing an iptables -L just returns some errors
about the module not being loaded (I think I know why this is happening)
and ipchains is not installed. I will work on the firewall after I get
the card communicating with the rest of the network.
When I do an ifconfig eth0 it returns:

I then do a ping -c3 127.0.0.1:

pinging localhost (using name instead of number) returns same thing.
I then try to ping my gateway on my network and get:

I had to hit ctrl-c to stop that command, since it seemed to hang before
outputting the statistics.
When I do a route -n it returns:

I have checked the loaded modules (with lsmod) and the correct module
(3c509) is being loaded. I have tried different cards and different ISA
slots, but it doesn't correct the problem.
I am getting the link lights on the card and on the hub. I have also
tried using different cables and different ports on the hub, but no
difference.
I have also checked the bios, and don't see any settings for
enabling/disabling PnP.
I am not sure what the problem is. I have tried Googling for an answer
(both the web and groups), but haven't yet come up with anything
helpful.
I would appreciate any feedback that anyone can offer.
