FWIW, I use Debian for our "corporate" environment. The nice thing is
that stable really does mean stable. Personally, I am an
upgradoholic. So I have all my mission critical systems running
stable with security updates and my own box runs a mix of stable,
testing, and even a few "unstable" packages (namely X -- but that is
another story).

I package our corporate stuff (servers and applications) and have
learned how to configure apt (Advanced Package Tool, IIRC) to keep
the package versions the way I want.

Apt can make you want to pull your hair out on occasion. But, in my
experience, apt does the job correctly 95% of the time. And the only
real heartache is from messing with a mixed system.
