[CLUE-Tech] xmodmap and ksh

Greetings.

At work, I use Solaris and we are not allowed to use
bash (I asked), so I am stuck in ksh. Unlike bash,
which is sensible, ksh uses ESC+\ to file name
complete (bash uses tab).

So, I was thinking I can remap ESC+\ to tab using
xmodmap. But, after reading the man page examples on
xmodmap, I'm not sure I can map a single key to two
key sequential key strokes. Is this true? If not,
could someone post an example?

I appreciate any suggestions.
Jeff
