[CLUE-Tech] Whats in /var/log/ksymoops?

I'm mucking around, trying to fix sound on my debian (woody) box.
I recently switched from a custom compiled smp kernel to a packaged smp
kernel. The new kernel is 2.4.18-686-smp. My motivation for the change
was knowing that _everything_ (AFAIK) is compiled as a module, and I
wouldn't have to keep checking or compiling modules or a new kernel for
new or different things I try.
Sound was working (with the OSS drivers) before, and now it isn't. My
sound card as an es1370 chipset. So, I'm looking around for log messages
to help me figure out why sound isn't working. I ran accross the
/var/log/ksymoops directory and didn't recall ever seeing it before. I
don't know what all the "stuff" in there is and I'm curious.
----
rrarabie at potter:~$ man ksymoops
No manual entry for ksymoops
rrarabie at potter:~$ apropos ksymoops
ksymoops: nothing appropriate.
----
I googled around and found lots of people asking if they can delete files
from there, but I can't find any information on what they are.
