Tell me about it.  I've run up2date a million times just to try to 
download the packages, I usually do an up2date -ud in order to get the 
stuff (cause that seems to work better), but after a while it just 
totally crapped out.  Futhermore rpm on RH9 seems to have a problem once 
in a while.
