I use secure copy. It works well, it's fast, and secure.
scp [[user@]host1:]file1 [...] [[user@]host2:]file2
Type 'man scp' for more info.
For windows boxen get a copy of putty.exe and pscp.exe from http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html
You can't serve scp to your linux box, but at least you can start transfers that way.
