The virus zone would be separate.  Just as you can pick and choose among 
the three current rfc-i zones instead of using the composite, you can also 
choose to use just the virus bouncer zone.  I think I am currently using 
two of their zones on my servers.

You can whitelist those "legitimate" providers. It also isn't that hard to 
fix the problem that causes the listing.

I caused letour.fr to get listed by rfc-i last summer after I tried to 
alert them to a domain pirate who was peddling a porn dialer on 
tourdefrance.com and found that both abuse and postmaster gave me 550 
bounces.  It was the only way to catch their attention.
