Yes we are behind a linksys "router" (NAT) on DSL. I can assure you that
I'm the only one who ever goes on slashdot ;) And other web pages come up
fine too.

Good point. Playing fairly on the internet is important. If this is how
Opera is faster, then it's only faster at the expense of other Internet
users (good thing Apache is default set to max 2 connections per user).
Think of how nicely TCP plays with itself until someone tweaks their
implementation a little bit to not back off when there is a lot of
traffic.
