[CLUE-Tech] Suse 9 on Dell Latitude

I answered my own question - oddly enough, this is what I had to do:
1) Remove hwscan from /etc/init.d/rc3.d and /etc/init.d/rc5.d.
2) Set gpm to start at boot up in /etc/init.d/rc5.d.
3) Run yast via command line using cntrl-alt-f2 to get into it - then
run the tool to choose a new mouse type, which I set to generic
Microsoft PS/2 mouse.
It then worked - but odd that after an update from the suse website I
had to do all that. I have no idea why gpm got reset to not autostart.
I think hwscan had something to do with it.
