[CLUE-Tech] Recommendations for JavaScript DHTML Nav Menu

I've been looking around at various JavaScript tutorials and examples on
the web, and so far, what I'm finding is either too simplistic, or too
full of knobs/bells/ornaments/etc.
What I need is a basic JavaScript example for poping up a menu of links,
to run off an onlick event for an <A> tag. The idea I have is that the
menu is just a block of <A> tags, that gets hidden/revealed based on
onlick and onmouseleave events.
If anyone can suggest some good sources, I'd appreciate it.
