Well, yeah.  Even without those it's no problem if you unmount first 
(which I usually do since the USB port is 'round back of the computer). 
  It'd be much cooler to make the light go on and off though. ;-)

I googled a bit hoping to find a tool that could tell the driver to tell 
the drive it was done but no luck yet.  Maybe that isn't in the driver yet.
