I don't register the domains, I host for them. Consequently, I have to manage the DNS myself and
I decided to run my own primary DNS server for convenience. This is better than trying to work
with non-technical clients to try to either:
1) Get them to manage the DNS at their registrars themselves.
2) Give me their domain management logons, or set me up with a secondary account (which isn't
available everywhere, so this really isn't an option).

Because DNS management and traffic is trivial and this is the nature of some circles of developers
-- which you, apparently, aren't part of. No insult intended, but don't be so close-minded. :)

I'm not complaining about customer service; I'm reporting an outage and asking if anyone has found
a workaround.

I acknowledge that it may come to this, but I will first chase the free option since I'm not
making any money off my hosting service (which, in reality, I'm just doing for friends -- a LOT of
friends).
