More rambling. I've found in the past that you don't ever want to
check the box "always use this program ..." when firefox queries you
about a mime type it hasn't lerned how to handle. If you just browse
and select the desired program, Firefox will present you the dialog
box with the program you entered as default, and you can change your
mind. but not if you checked 'always use this program'.

As a side note, firefox/mozilla has p.ss poor handling for mime types.
