I had a similar problem with 10.1 Community a few months ago. Very erratic
access to nearly all sites. I found that is was related to a DNS problem.
I could access everything quite well as long as I entered the I.P. address.
I eventually traced my problem to a bogus entry in the DNS setup
(192.168.0.1). When I removed that and only had the DNS numbers provided by
Quest it would work fine. But, I found that every time I rebooted, the
bogus entry was back and the web access would not work. I never did find a
solution to that. The final "solution" for me was to change from DHCP to
static IP in the Mandrake Control Center. Since doing that web access works
fine. I read on one of the post boards that this may be related to a change
from IPV4 to IPV6 in the 2.6 Kernel. I don't know if that right or not.
But, with static IP it works, and for me I can use static IP just as well as
DHCP. I'm using an SMC hub and the Quest Actiontec DSL modem. When I did
the intstall 10.1 Community did not ask for any kind of passwords. Hope
this helps.
