I would set it specifically to "sid" and not "unstable", thus avoiding an accidental upgrade far in the future. 

Some weeks upgrades to unstable go cleanly, some weeks they don't.  Sometimes you can tell when things are "bad" by tracking debian-user and debian-devel mailing lists.  And the LESS packages you have installed before the upgrade, the better -- generally. 

Unstable is... Unstable. :-)
