[clue-tech] ASK, procmail, forward with postfix + virt users

I run an e-mail server that hosts ~80 users. I am using postfix + sasl
+ amavisd and have been extremely happy with this setup. Recently, the
number of spam messages we are receiving has jumped through the roof
and although I've been using SpamAssassin with rules from the "rules
emporium", there is still too much getting through and my users are
complaining. I have suggested that my clients use Thunderbird or
Mail.App's built-in junk filtering. However, even I am religious about
using it and still get several dozen messages per day that get through.
The worst of them get filtered but the ones that do make it through
are enough to sour my mood when I fire up my inbox every morning.

I have recently learned about Active Spam Killer (ASK) and the
auto-responding feature it provides and would like to make this option
available to selected domains that I am hosting.

However, I have run into a problem: Since I use virtual users, none of
my users have $HOME directories. All the configuration files seem to
want to be in $HOME/.ask or rely on other "dot files" in the home dirs.
This also ties in nicely with the problem of turning on "vacation"
messages for my users. Many times I have been asked how they can set
this up, but I can't seem to offer them any solution. It used to be
easy with Exim when I had "real" users with home dirs. Where would I
put the .forward file for them now?

I'm sure there's other people out there who have run into this dilemma.
  How have you solved it?

Thanks

-Dan
