I'll re-rip and see if that helps.

Well sox can convert from and to many file formats, and according to man
sox, cdr is a format used for making audio cds. Like I said, I can get an
audio cd, but it comes out high pitched, garbled and fast (e.g. it sounds as
if the people are singing and playing faster then they really are). I'll try
the two suggestions I've gotten so far and see how that works. I'll get back
to you folks with which one worked. (:
