I use http://www.dyndns.org/ to get a DNS for my comcast hooked
machine and haven't had a problem, though I don't know your needs so
maybe you need something even more reliable.  You can buy a UPS and a
100ft long cat5 to relocate the thing to your basement or something
for less than managed hosting, right?
