[clue-tech] More Ubuntu Edgy news

Fortunately, I'm finding fixes for initial problems on forums and ubuntu-dev:

1. The new X runs very slowly on the vesa setup picked by the
installer. You need something like nvidia or ati to get normal results
when dragging a window or scrolling a window in a browser. Fortunately
nvidia-glx installs with no errors.

2. Buried somewhere in the change logs is the fact that vim-tiny has
now replaced the normal vim in the editor offerings. This might be OK,
but they've left vim-tiny set to "compatible", ie only actual 'vi'
behavior is emulated. Just install vim to get the behavior expected by
most folks.

3. One of the initial updates fudged the usplash settings. Without
usplash you get an ugly console session until kdm/gdm starts. The work
around is to edit /etc/usplash.conf and then dpkg-reconfigure usplash.

Enjoy,
