Aha.  Nothing listening on those ports.  While there is something listening
on the port of the working machine:

netstat -na | grep port.

  Working variety has:
    192.168.1.208:[port] 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN

  One which answers to 127.0.0.1 has:
    127.0.0.1:[port]    0.0.0.0:*               LISTEN

  One which is not working at all has no entry.

Ok, moving forward.

Been wracking my head against this most of the day.  Trying to get my
database servers to communicate.  I've boiled it down to RH refusing
connections on the ports in question.

I can telnet to 127.0.0.1, I can telnet to the ip address, but trying telnet
[ip] [db_port] fails on two of the servers (works on the third - which is
operational).

on the FC5 box, I can't telnet either (have to install telnet-server).

I know I did something different between the working server and the
non-working server - if I could just figure out what, then I could get the
3rd one working too.

I've been through iptables, been through turning off the firewall.  What
obvious thing have I missed?

(p.s. - lost my second SATA 3 drive today.  23 spindles here, 8 of them
SATA - the only two disk failures I've had in YEARS have been with the two
SATAs)
