[clue-tech] DSL modem issue?

Folks,

I have had Qwest DSL for perhaps 5 years now.  Ever since the beginning, I've had to occasionally reset (unplug power, then reboot) the DSL modem/router.  I'm expecting to use a type of VOIP service and am wondering what I can do to improve my Internet connection so I don't lose home phone service.  I'm also tired of constantly going to my basement to reboot the modem to get internet service.

Do DSL modems typically have issues?  I've moved residences in the mean time, so I think it's the modem, and not necessarily the service.

I've attempted some shopping research on DSL modems, but I'm overwhelmed at what to look for.  It seams like DSL modems run around $70, which is rather expensive for me at the moment.

Any suggestions or recommendations?  Thank you.
