I, too, value free software, but not at the cost of disabling existing
hardware components or indeed bastardizing the kernel. I prefer
distros that ship free software but also provide bullet-proof ways to
download, install, and maintain the (still) necessary binary blobs
that make life easier. In the Brave New World of the future there may
not be a need for binary blobs, but we're not there yet, and I doubt
that purging useful software will help us get there any quicker.
