It may be cleaner, but not clean enough.  Anyone know of a program that 
will process escape sequences and non-printing characters in a file and 
leave the text as it would look on the screen?

more displays it readably, less doesn't.  But it would be nice to get 
rid of all that and be able to edit the remainder in vi.  (I guess 
there's probably a vi command or script to do it.)
