I once had a config like this for similar reasons. But when I moved
and switched to cable for internet I had to re-think all this.

Today I just use the Comcast dynamic IP address and use dynamic dns
via dyndns.com to give my gateway box a consistant name.  In any case
it's been a year or so and comcast has yet to change the address they
first assigned to my link.
