[clue-tech] ubuntu 9.04/Open Office woe's :(

Aren't .dot files templates?  You could load the files in a real copy of 
Word and then "save as" a regular (pick an easily imported 
version--whatever that is) document.  Then when you import it to 
OpenOffice.org there should be a way to create a template.
