Apparently not.  I set them up as described and people used them without complaint.  I didn't try to 
see how usage was distributed between the two.

I'll have to do something like that eventually.  I guess I don't have enough need to tweak settings 
to want a regular distro on them (which would normally be my preference).  I should just think of 
tomato et. al. as a "platinum firmware upgrade".

The WRTU54G-TM isn't particularly suited to running Linux but it looks like the open wifi guys have 
something working.  So they'll probably work to some degree.
