I have never used it, but I have heard good things about the desktop for
PCLinuxOS. I don't know if it is too basic for what you are looking for though
since it is targeted at new users kind of.

Keep an eye out for AuroraOS at auroraos.org. It was formally Eeebuntu. It is
not available yet, except in its eeebuntu version.
