I suppose I didn't say so, or you didn't hear me.  Our "one list" has a policy, at the top of this page:

It wasn't intended to allow things that are off topic.  It should allow things that affect 
management of the group, like an upcoming vote for leadership positions.

I'll be happy to hear suggestions on making it a better policy, with the understanding that it will 
never be an ironclad guarantee that you won't ever see things you don't want.

I'd say a lot more but you've stopped reading already and it wouldn't be productive anyway.
