[clue] w and X

That ~might~ be a better question, since I'm noticing that this negative effect is also present in 'last' 'lastlog' and 'who'. 

So, my question for today is: How do I work around this? 

I can: 
pgrep -u (particular user) 

Or: 
ps aux | cut -f 1 -d ' ' | sort | uniq -c | sort -n 

And that... well, that's OK, but not really what I'm looking for.
